Swift Current Broncos general manager steps down

Former Broncos GM Chad Leslie steps down after four seasons.

Chad Leslie, general manager for the Swift Current Broncos, will be stepping down and transitioning to a scouting focused position within the team.

The club revealed the personnel change in a news release Monday.

“It has been an honour to serve as the general manager of the Swift Current Broncos over the past four years,” Leslie said in the announcement. “During this time, I have had the privilege of experiencing both the challenges and the triumphs that come with leading a WHL franchise.”

Leslie added that his multiple years with the club led to his realization that his true passion lied with the “scouting aspect of hockey.”

“On behalf of the organization, I’d like to thank Chad for his dedication and contributions over the past four years as our general manager,” Broncos Chairman of the Board Trent McClearly said in the announcement. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with him in a new capacity moving forward.”

The team said it hopes to fill the position within the next couple of months – adding that the level of candidates applying will determine if the team can fill both its general manager and head coach positions.

In January, the Broncos announced a third-party review of the organization after losing their second head coach in three years following league investigations into misconduct.
