Saskatchewan’s Carter Beck drafted to MLB’s Atlanta Braves

Carnduff, Sask., outfielder Carter Beck has been drafted by Major League Baseball’s Atlanta Braves on Saturday.

Beck was selected 26th overall by the Atlanta Braves, making him the highest-ever drafted player from Saskatchewan in the MLB Draft.

Beck is coming off his junior season at Indiana State University, where he became the second player to earn the Joe Carter Player of the Year Award as the Missouri Valley Conference’s best player.

He spent the 2024 and 2025 summers with the Western Canadian Baseball League’s Saskatoon Berries, who shared their excitement on social media.

According to Baseball Sask., just 24 players from Saskatchewan have been drafted by MLB teams; a list which includes North Battleford’s Andrew Albers and Regina’s Dustin Molleken.
