Sask. man charged with murder in Swift Current suspicious death investigation

WATCH: A Swift Current man is facing second degree murder charges after a two-month investigation.

A 54-year-old man from Swift Current has been charged with second-degree murder following a suspicious death in the city early in August.

On August 8, shortly after 1 a.m., Swift Current Municipal RCMP responded to a report of an injured male in a home on 1st Avenue NW, the RCMP said in a news release.

The man was taken to hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. He has been identified as 29-year-old Matthew Neufeld of Swift Current. His family has been notified.

Police say due to the suspicious nature of the death, Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes unit took over the investigation.

After more than two months of investigative work, RCMP arrested 54-year-old Christopher Sean Foster, also of Swift Current, on Oct. 15.

Foster has been charged with second-degree murder and is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court Friday.
