Regina police work to tackle retail theft as 3 more people face charges

Regina police say they’re continuing to tackle retail theft in the city – highlighting more people facing charges related to three separate instances of robbery.

On March 18, a 29-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of robbery for his role in two different thefts involving a firearm in February 2022, according to the Regina Police Service (RPS).

On Feb. 18, 2022, officers were called to a business in the 900 block of Arcola Avenue East after a report indicated two suspects used a firearm to threaten employees before leaving with cash and other items.

Days later on, Feb. 22, police were called to a business in the 1800 block of Prince of Wales Drive after two men went into the business, threatened an employee with a firearm and left with cash.

Following investigation through review of surveillance footage, one of the suspects was arrested on March 18, 2026.

In a separate incident, officers observed two people acting suspiciously near a business on the 2100 block of 11th Avenue on March 24, 2026. RPS say they appeared to be suspects wanted for thefts at the same located on March 8, 11, and 20.

A 25-year-old and a 36-year-old were both arrested and charged without incident and are jointly charged with three counts of theft under $5,000.

They are both scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on May 7.

A 40-year-old man is facing five counts of theft under $5,000 for his role in five separate thefts over the course of three weeks, four of which took place at a business on the 2100 block of Anaquod Road between March 3 and March 16.

On March 18, he also stole from a business in the 1600 block of Dewdney Avenue.

RPS officers were able to identify the suspect and link the thefts using security footage.

He is scheduled to appear in Regina Provincial Court on May 10.

To tackle retail theft in the city, the RPS uses a multi-pronged approach, including identifying crime trends, locations, and repeat offenders. RPS also encourages businesses owners to invest in security cameras and report thefts using the Direct Entry Victim Reporting system.
