Regina residents who need to get their pets microchipped can do so at a complimentary pet microchipping clinic on Thursday. Hosted by the Regina Humane Society (RHS), the clinic will take place at the Eastview Community Centre at 615 6th Avenue from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Microchipping is a permanent way to identify a pet, which can increase the chances of reuniting a lost pet with their family. The RHS will provide subsidized microchips on a first come first serve basis. “By bringing this service directly into the community, we are helping reduce barriers for families while supporting the safety and well-being of their pets,” Rebecca Carlson, manager of education and outreach with the RHS said in an update on Tuesday. Thursday’s clinic is the first of four taking place during the summer, with one set to be held each month from June to September, the RHS said. The second and third microchipping event will be held at the North Central Family Centre, and the fourth clinic will take place at the Al Ritchie Community Centre. During the event, the RHS Pet Connection Outreach Program will provide pet food and supplies. They will also offer the community the opportunity to get DocuPet ID tags, which provide access to lost pet support services, as well as an online pet profile.
