Regina doctor suspended for 6 months after sexual impropriety with patients

Dr. Imafidon Izekor of Regina has been suspended for a period of six months after being found guilty of two counts related to sexual impropriety with patients.

He was also found guilty of one count of being disrespectful and unprofessional in communications with his employees.

The charges of sexual impropriety are related to separate incidents in 2018 involving two patients, one of whom was a minor. Izekor was an owner and practiced at two Northgate Medical Centre locations on Avonhurt Drive and at Northgate Mall.

A discipline hearing committee with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (CPSS) heard testimony and evidence over the course of nine days in May 2025.

The college initially filed seven charges against Izekor in March of 2022. Two charges were later withdrawn while he was found not-guilty on the remaining two charges.

Identified as “Patient 1” and “Patient 2” in the decision, both of the patients, aged 19 and 16 at the time, testified that Izekor acted flirtatiously though various comments. No allegations of physical contact were made.

In May 2025, Izekor was found to be guilty of two counts of engaging in sexual impropriety and failing to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with Patients 1 and 2.

Izekor was also found guilty of one charge of disrespectful and unprofessional communication with employees, related to incidents which saw the doctor get in heated arguments with staff, sometimes yelling and criticizing them loudly.

At its meeting on Nov. 29, the CPSS council issued a penalty order against Izekor that included an indefinite suspension, which will end after a minimum of six months if he has fulfilled certain requirements including:

• Completing an extended course in medical ethics, boundaries and professionalism
• Completing an additional course focusing solely on professional boundaries
• Providing satisfactory proof that he has taken counselling for boundary violations and inappropriate sexual conduct, has gained insight into the matter, and has achieved a measure of rehabilitation which protects the public from the risk of future harm.

The CPSS also required Izekor to pay $80,000 of the costs of the hearing and investigation. The council will reprimand Izekor in person at its January 2026 meeting.

The doctor will also be subject to a chaperone requirement for all appointments involving female patients if he returns to practice.

Izekor has appealed the committee’s decision to Saskatchewan’s Court of King’s Bench.
