Parking changes are in effect in Regina. Here’s what that means for you

Regina is moving to a fully cashless parking system with pay-by-phone process.

New parking changes took effect in Regina Wednesday, including updates to fines and payment options.

Coin payments for on-street parking have been eliminated, with Regina drivers now required to pay digitally through the PayByPhone service—available via the app, online, or by phone, according to the City of Regina.

Pre-paid parking vouchers are also available for purchase at City Hall for those unable to use digital options. Each voucher is valid for one hour when displayed on a vehicle dashboard.

New parking zones have been introduced, with higher-demand areas in the downtown core increasing from $2 to $2.50 per hour, while lower-demand areas are set at $1.50 per hour.

Parking fines will increase by $10 per ticket, and fees for temporary street use permits will rise by 50 per cent. Existing exemptions, including accessible parking stalls, remain unchanged.

Under the updated system, parking is no longer tied to a specific meter, allowing vehicles to park anywhere along the curb within a legal space.

“These changes help modernize Regina’s parking system and improve how parking is managed across the city,” said Faisal Kalim, Director of Community Standards.
