Moose Jaw man convicted for practicing engineering without license

A Moose Jaw man has been convicted of practicing professional engineering without a license.

Brent Waldo was sentenced in Moose Jaw Provincial Court last week and was ordered to pay a $1,000 fine by June 30, 2026.

Waldo pleaded guilty to one count of practicing engineering without a license on March 25.

“He admitted to authoring and distributing a technical report dated March 4, 2025, that required the application of engineering principles - work he was not legally permitted to perform,” read a news release from the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS).

APEGS said it issued the release on Thursday as a “firm reminder” of the prohibition of unauthorized engineering and geoscience practice.

“The conviction stems from a clear violation of Section 27(2) of The Engineering and Geoscience Professions Act,” APEGS said.

“This legislation exists for a critical reason: to safeguard the lives and safety of Saskatchewan residents. This prevents the public from being misled by unqualified individuals and serves as an assurance that work done by professional engineers and geoscientists meets critical standards.
