Lloydminster RCMP searching for suspect after man shot during attempted carjacking

RCMP in Lloydminster are searching for a suspect who allegedly shot a man during an attempted carjacking in the city over the weekend.

On Jan. 11, at around 11:40 p.m., RCMP received a report of a shooting on 47 Avenue near 27 Street in Lloydminster. Upon their arrival, emergency responders found a 29-year-old man with an apparent gun shot wound.

The victim told officers they were outside when they were approached by a lone suspect who demanded their car keys.

A struggle ensued, leading to the victim being shot. The suspect got in a dark coloured SUV and left the scene.

He is described as a heavy-set man of medium complexion, standing five feet, eight inches tall.

“This is a troubling crime,” Jerry Nutbrown of Lloydminster RCMP said in an update on Tuesday. ”Know that all available resources are being utilized to locate this dangerous suspect.”
