As the 2025-26 season draws to a close, Globe Theatre Regina announced its lineup for 2026-27 on Tuesday evening. Next season will be headlined by five shows, starting with Mosque Heist, a new comedy written by Zarqa Nawaz and directed by Haysam Kadri. The play is set to run from Sept. 30 to Oct. 18, 2026. “It’s like a no-brainer when [Narwaz] came to me with a play and said, can we do it?” said Jennifer Brewin, director of Regina’s Globe Theatre. “It’s hilarious and irreverent and cool, so we were like, ‘Yeah, let’s open the season with that’, because it’s so fresh and it’s so dynamic and so electric, and it’s kind of an untold story of Regina.” Brewin said she went through around 200 submissions. “When we look at the whole season, we look at different genres, such as musicals, contemporary theater, classical works,” she said. “Then we try to find a nice collection like you’d have on your bookshelf of different kinds of books that tell different kinds of stories.” A month later, It’s A Wonderful Life, directed by Judy Wensel will hit the stage from Nov. 25, 2026, until Jan. 3, 2027. It will be adapted by Joey Tremblay, with a Prairie perspective. The first full outing in 2027 will be Les Misérables, directed by Estelle Shook, which is scheduled for Feb. 10-March 21. Michelle Thrush will direct Indians & Cowboys and Inner Elder scheduled from April 6, 2027 until May 2, 2027. The season’s finale will be Evil Dead The Musical set for May 27, 2027 to June 27, 2027. Brewin will direct it in co-production with Alberta Theatre Projects. Globe Theatre has two more shows left in the 2025-26 season, Little Red Warrior & His Lawyer which runs until May 17, and “Arsenic and Old Lace” scheduled for June 3 to June 21.
