The founder of the Queen City Patrol has pleaded guilty to defrauding the non-profit organization over $5,000. Patricia “Patty” Will, appeared at Court of King’s Bench on Friday to make the guilty plea. Between January 2020 and September 2021, Will made several financial decisions on behalf of Queen City Patrol, then used these funds for personal expenses. Two vehicles were donated to the non-profit. Will sold one vehicle for $12,000 to a broker, and the other for $5,000 to a volunteer of the organization. Will used the proceeds from these sales for her personal use. Will did not have the authority or permission to sell these donated vehicles. Will also accepted a $1,500 donation from Erin & Associates Insurance Inc. The donation went directly into Will’s personal bank account, and a tax receipt for the charitable donations was never exchanged. The funds were then used for Will’s personal expenses and not for the organization. Queen City Patrol began in 2019, focusing on discarded needle cleanup throughout Regina. Will retired from the program in 2021 and moved out of province. The non-profit no longer exists. Will was sentenced to a six-month conditional sentence along with 12 months probation. Will is also ordered not to contact any of the people named in the case and is ordered to complete community service. An order is in place for Will, which prohibits her from obtaining employment or volunteering, as well as prohibited from having authority over property or money for three years. Will now lives in Edmonton, Alta. Arrangements are being made for her to complete her sentence there.
