Fishing shack goes up in flames on Last Mountain Lake, investigation underway

Conservation officers are investigating after a fishing shack went up in flames on Last Mountain Lake over the weekend.

On Saturday, March 14, at around 12:30 p.m., conservation officers learned that a fishing shelter was burning on Last Mountain Lake, near the community of Regina Beach.

The shelter was described as a white, aluminum-sided Vanguard slide-in/truck camper.

According to a post from SaskTip, an older, white four-door long-box truck, with visible body rust carrying either a generator or welder in the truck bed was seen towing the shelter shortly before it was unhooked.

The truck left the area, and moments later, the shelter was fully engulfed in flames. The debris was left on the lake ice.

Conservation officers are asking for the public’s help in identifying the owner of the ice shelter and the truck involved in the incident.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Turn-In-Poachers and Polluters (TIPP) line.

A cash reward of up to $2,000 is being offered for information that leads to the arrest or conviction of those involved in the incident.
