As the Saskatchewan Roughriders prepare to face the Winnipeg Blue Bombers for the 60th annual Labour Day Classic in Regina – here are a few reminders for fans. Pre-game The pre-game festival is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. in Confederation Park. In addition to food trucks, interactive games, face painting, balloon artists and inflatables – the festivities will also feature a watermelon eating contest and a live performance from Regina’s own Blu Beach Band. Transit Rider Transit will be available yet again for gameday. Pickup locations include the Southland Mall, University of Regina, Turvey Centre, Victoria Avenue and Scarth Street. To contend with Dewdney Avenue construction, the Warehouse District stops are now located at 6th Avenue and Rose Street in addition to 8th Avenue and Scarth Street. Buses will begin running an hour and 45 minutes before the game and continue until 30 minutes before kick-off. Buses will return to the drop-off locations beginning at the start of the fourth quarter and continue until 75 minutes after the game. For those biking to Mosaic Stadium, a bike valet opens two hours prior to kick off and is staffed by volunteers through REAL. The bikes are stored in a fenced compound and monitored by staff. All bikes must be retrieved within one hour after the game concludes. The bike valet is located at the southeast corner of Confederation Park. What to bring As Environment Canada is forecasting a daily high of 31 C for Regina, the Green and White are reminding Rider Nation that sealed water bottles up to one litre are permitted. Water refill stations will be available in the south endzone for those bringing reusable bottles. Fans are reminded that purses, backpacks and camera bags are prohibited. Each fan can bring in one clear bag sized 12″ by 6″ by 12″. More details on the clear bag policy can be found here. Most importantly, fans are encouraged to have their digital tickets ready prior to heading to Mosaic Stadium. Kick-off is slated for 5 p.m. CST. History This season marks the 60th annual Labour Day Classic. The Roughriders lead the series 38-21. All-time, the Green and White have scored 153 touchdowns (23 more than Winnipeg) and lead by total points at 1,654 to the Blue Bombers’ 1,254. Dating back to 1949, 81 quarterbacks have faced off against each other in the 59 previous Labour Day Classics. With Sunday’s game, the club says all-time attendance for the Labour Day Classic will top 1.6 million.
