Police are asking for the public’s help after a driver allegedly brandished a weapon during a road rage incident in New Westminster Wednesday afternoon. The New Westminster Police Department said the incident unfolded at approximately 4:15 p.m. near 6th Avenue and Eighth Street. Authorities said a motorist reported that another driver got out of his vehicle and brandished a weapon at her. Police did not specify the exact type of weapon but told CTV News it was an “edged weapon.” The suspect is described as a white man in his 40s, with a slim build, moustache and balding hair, police said. He was driving a red Dodge Ram. “Brandishing weapons in traffic is not acceptable,” said Sgt. Andrew Leaver in a statement Thursday. “We’re now asking the public to help us in our investigation by passing along any relevant dash-cam footage.” Anyone with dash-cam video from the area at the time of the incident is asked to call 604-525-5411 and quote file number 26-15256.
