Case for man accused of stealing from Esterhazy Minor Hockey Association adjourned

The case for Cory Smith, charged with stealing $46,000 from the Esterhazy Minor Hockey Association, has been adjourned to Jan. 13.

The case for a Saskatchewan man accused of stealing $46,000 from the Esterhazy Minor Hockey Association has been adjourned to the new year.

Esterhazy RCMP received a report of a theft on July 30, 2025 after the hockey association’s general minutes revealed that an individual stole about $43,000 through e-transfer and $3,000 in cash from the organization.

Through an investigation, Cory Smith of Esterhazy was arrested and charged with one count of theft over $5,000.

Smith appeared as Esterhazy Minor Hockey Association’s recently removed treasurer in the organization’s meeting minutes in August.

He was released and was scheduled to appear in Esterhazy Provincial Court on Dec. 9, 2025.

According to a response to CTV News from Yorkton Provincial Court, the case has been adjourned to Jan. 13, 2026, to review disclosure.
