Calgary man arrested in connection to arson in Leader, Sask.

Saskatchewan RCMP arrested an Alberta man in connection to a suspicious fire that destroyed a business in Leader in October.

RCMP received a report of a fire at a business on 1 Avenue in Leader around 2:40 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2025. Officers and local firefighters responded to the scene but were unable to save the building.

Following an investigation, Leader RCMP arrested a 50-year-old man from Calgary, Alta. He has been charged with arson with intent to defraud, fraud over $5,000, and arson with disregard for human life.

He is scheduled to appear in court on March 19, 2026.

The Saskatchewan RCMP says its investigation continues.

Leader is located 388 kilometres northwest of Regina.
