The Saskatchewan Roughriders signed national running back Thomas Bertrand-Hudon to a one-year contract extension on Wednesday. The 29-year-old has played three seasons with the Riders after being selected 30th overall in the 2023 CFL draft. After playing four seasons at Delaware State University, Bertrand-Hudon had an impressive performance at the 2023 CFL Combine, posting the fastest 40-yard dash time by a running back (4.71 seconds) and the best shuttle time among all participants (4.16 seconds). Bertrand-Hudon had a career-high 166 yards rushing in 2025 despite playing in just seven games due to a leg injury. He returned to the lineup for the last four games of the regular season and two postseason games, culminating with the Riders winning the Grey Cup on Nov. 16 with a 25-17 victory over the Montreal Alouettes. In 42 career games with the Riders, Bertrand-Hudon has rushed for 365 yards on 64 carries (a 5.7-yard average per carry) with four touchdowns. He has eight career receptions for 50 yards and one touchdown. He has also recorded 23 special teams tackles.
