Barrie Police say the Coroner’s office has been able to identify one of two victims of a house fire. A 76-year-old man, whose name was not released, was identified as one of two people who died after a fire at a home on Alfred Street in central Barrie. On Friday, fire fighters arrived at the scene around 4 p.m. in the area of Anne Street and Alfred Street and found the home in flames. One person, who was found inside the residence, was declared dead on scene. The other later died in hospital. Police say the 76-year-old was identified as the victim who was pronounced dead in hospital. Police say the Coroner’s office has yet to identify the victim found in the home. The fire continues to be under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal. More information will be provided as it becomes available. Check back later for updates.
