A 17-year-old Guelph resident has been charged with dangerous operation causing death following a fatal collision in Guelph-Eramosa Township nearly a year ago. The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said officers and other emergency crews responded to a single-vehicle collision on Eastview Road at about 4 p.m. on Oct. 30 An 18-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. A 16-year-old boy was taken to a trauma centre in Hamilton with non-life-threatening injuries. Police continued to investigate the cause of the collision for nearly a year before making an arrest. On Sept. 24, at about 9:30 p.m., OPP arrested the 17-year-old driver. The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph. The identity of the accused cannot be released under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. No further information has been released at this time.
