A former Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver has been inducted into his alma mater’s hall of fame. Prior to his career in the Canadian Football League, Weston Dressler played college football at the University of North Dakota (UND) in his home state. “He was undersized, so he came in with that chip on his shoulder, always something to prove,” said Brady Trenbeath, one of Dressler’s teammates at UND in an induction video posted by the university. During his college career, Dressler set 19 UND school records over four seasons. He is also one of only two players at UND to have multiple 1,000 yard receiving seasons and the only player with multiple seasons of over 2,000 yard all-purpose yards, earning the nickname “Mr. Electricity.” After his final season at UND in 2007, Dressler joined the Saskatchewan Roughriders, where he’d play a total of 123 games from 2008 to 2015. A four time Western All-Star and three time CFL All-Star, Dressler helped the Riders win a Grey Cup in 2013. He was inducted into the team’s Plaza of Honour in 2022 and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2024. With files from Kaylynn Whibbs
