A licensed practical nurse in Surrey was handed a three-week suspension this August to resolve “practice concerns” that occurred in 2024, according to B.C.’s professional regulator. Jatinderjit “Rosey” Saran “mismanaged” the care of an emergency room patient in critical condition on Sept. 12 of that year, according to the B.C. College of Nurses and Midwives. “The reasons for this order are that they demonstrated practice standard deviation on a particular shift, despite being an experienced emergency room nurse, with extensive tenure, resulting in an unreasonable risk of harm to the patient,” the college wrote in a public notice last month. The college says Saran completed remedial education and continues to work at the same hospital. In 2021, the BCCNM limited Saran’s practice to sub-acute areas for 12 months due to their “failure to assess, medicate and document accurately on deteriorating patients,” among other issues.
