Ottawa bargain hunters are filling carts full of various items at a weekend liquidation sale at the EY Centre. The event features a wide variety of items, from clothing and costumes to kitchen utensils, bedding, and even portable fire pits. Products come from multiple stores and sources, including overstock, bankruptcies, and sample items. “You just never know what you will find,” says Liette Racine, manager of Nationwide Warehouse Liquidation. “You will find that everything is more than 50 per cent off. Sometimes you’ll find it up to 90 per cent off from what you would normally pay at any other store.” While easing, inflation continues to put pressure on household budgets. Statistics Canada shows prices were up close to two per cent year-over-year in February, which can prompt more consumers to seek out discounted goods and alternatives to full-price retail. “A liquidation sale like this definitely helps with the economy right now,” says Racine. “Why go out and pay full price for every item if you can buy it at a much bigger discount, why not take the savings while you can.” The liquidation sale runs throughout the weekend, at the EY Centre’s hall two during the following hours:
