Winterlude

It’s the second weekend of Winterlude in Ottawa and Gatineau.

Enjoy ice sculptures, snow slides, live music, free outdoor winter activities and more.

Events will be held in Confederation Park, Jacques-Cartier Park, the Canadian Museum of Nature, the Canadian Museum of History, the Bank of Canada Museum and on Sparks Street.

Winterlude runs until Feb. 16.

Barbegazi

The ByWard Market will be transformed into a high-energy winter arena for Barbegazi.

Checkout ice-cold freestyle snowmobile performances reaching up to 40 feet in the air right in the heart of Ottawa.

Events run from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Rideau Canal Skateway

The green flag is flying on the Rideau Canal Skateway this weekend.

The full 7.8-kilometre stretch of the skateway is open between Rideau and Dow’s Lake, along with the stretch to the Carleton University Library.

Rideau Hall Winter Celebration

Don’t miss the Winter Celebration at Rideau Hall on Saturday.

You can go for a skate on the Rideau Hall Rink, tour the historic residence and enjoy outdoor activities and captivating performances.

The Winter Celebration runs from 12:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Capital Hoops

Basketball bragging rights in the national capital region are up for grabs Friday night at the Arena at TD Place.

The Carleton Ravens and the University of Ottawa Gee-Gees meet in the annual Capital Hoops.

The women’s game is at 6 p.m., followed by the men’s game at 8 p.m.

Ottawa Black Bears

The Ottawa Black Bears host the Calgary Roughnecks Saturday night at Canadian Tire Centre.

It’s Winter Games night at the Black Bears game, with the theme night bringing cold-weather energy and high-intensity lacrosse.

Ottawa 67’s

The Ottawa 67’s are home twice this weekend at the Arena at TD Place.

On Saturday, the 67’s host the Brantford Bulldogs for a 3 p.m. game.

On Sunday, the Owen Sound Attack visits Ottawa for a 3 p.m. game.

Shiverfest

The Manotick Village and Community Association hosts Shiverfest on Friday and Saturday.

Friday night’s events include a Children’s Magic Show, an outdoor bonfire at Centennial Park, a Rideau Skating Club exhibition and line dancing.

Saturday’s events include a Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast at the Manotick Community Centre, curling, horse-drawn sleigh rides, a Manotick Scavenger Hunt, a chili cook-off and more.

Greely Winter Carnival

The Greely Community Association invites you to the Greely Winter Carnival.

Events this weekend include the Kids Glow Dance on Friday, a pancake breakfast and family fun on Saturday and the Greely Lion’s Brunch on Sunday.

Canadian Ski Marathon

North America’s oldest cross-country ski-event takes place this weekend in the Outaouais region.

Skiers from all ages and abilities will compete in races from 12 km to 160 km on classic groomed trails.

Lansdowne Farmers Market

The Lansdowne Farmers’ Market winter market is Sunday at Lansdowne.

Join over 75 vendors inside the Aberdeen Pavilion every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Skating/sledding

Ottawa’s four refrigerated rinks will be open this weekend. The four rinks are:

• Rink of Dreams at Ottawa City Hall
• Lansdowne Park skating court
• Jim Tubman Chevrolet Rink at Canterbury
• Ben Franklin Place skating rink.

The community outdoor rinks will open if the weather is favourable.

The City of Ottawa says sledding hills will be open.

Rideau Hall Rink

Glide into history at the Rideau Hall Rink this winter.

There is public skating on weekdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and weekends from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Parliament: The Immersive Experience at 211 Sparks Street includes an exhibition and a 360-degree multimedia show that takes you on a tour through Centre Block, which has been closed since 2019.

The self-guided tour is 45 minutes.
