A watermain break flooded a major road just east of downtown Ottawa and closed it to traffic during the afternoon commute. City of Ottawa workers and emergency crews responded to reports of water flooding Riverside Drive north of Industrial Avenue just before 1 p.m. on Friday. “The break has been isolated and there are no impacts to drinking water services,” Carina Duclos, director of Infrastructure Services, said in a statement. Several vehicles are being forced to turn around on Riverside Drive due to the road closure. Riverside Drive is closed between Tremblay Avenue and Industrial Avenue while repairs were made to the road. There is no word on when the road will reopen to traffic.
