Warm start to September in Ottawa, with above-normal temperatures expected through the fall

It will be a sunny and hot first day of September, with the above-seasonal temperatures expected to continue through the fall in Ottawa.

Environment Canada’s forecast calls for sunshine today. High 26 C with the humidex making it feel like 28.

There will be a few clouds tonight. Low 14 C.

Tuesday will see a mix of sun and cloud with a 30 per cent chance of showers in the afternoon. High 26 C.

Wednesday will be sunny. High 27 C.

The outlook for Thursday calls for a mix of sun and cloud with a 40 per cent chance of showers. High 25 C.

Friday will be mainly cloudy with a 30 per cent chance of showers. High 20 C.

The normal temperatures for this time of year are a high of 22 C and a low of 12 C.

Warm fall

Ottawa is expected to enjoy a warm fall this year.

Environment Canada’s three-month forecast calls for above-seasonal temperatures in Ottawa through September, October and November.

The above-seasonal temperatures will stretch from the Toronto area into eastern Ontario and western Quebec.

Ottawa is expected to see normal precipitation levels over the next three months.

Ottawa experienced four straight months of below seasonal rainfall through the spring and summer.

Ottawa received 48.2 mm of rain in August, down from the normal rainfall of 85 mm. It was Ottawa’s driest August since 2002.
