Rideau-Vanier, Alta Vista and Gloucester-Southgate are the hot spots for vehicle thefts so far in Ottawa this year, but fewer vehicles have been reported stolen in 2026. Statistics from the Ottawa Police Service’s website shows 490 vehicles have been reported stolen so far in 2026. In 2025, 577 vehicles were reported stolen between Jan. 1 and May 21. The data shows 51 vehicles have been reported stolen in Rideau-Vanier since January 1. Twenty-one of those vehicles were stolen in the ByWard Market area, according to the map. Forty vehicles have been reported stolen in Alta Vista, while 37 vehicles have been stolen in Gloucester-Southgate and 30 vehicles reported stolen in Somerset. Vehicles have been reported stolen in all 24 wards across the City of Ottawa so far this year.
