Suspects charged in relation to '24 hours challenge' videos

CTV Ottawa: Charges laid in 24hr challenge Police have laid charges in connection to the 24 hour challenge.

Ottawa Police have laid provincial charges against a man whose YouTube videos appear to show him sneaking into empty homes, stadiums and office buildings to spend the night.

Jason Ethier, 26, was charged with five counts of trespassing on Thursday in connection to the videos, which show people entering various places while they're open and staying inside when they close.

Charges have been laid in relation to alleged trespassing at the following locations:

Ethier, who goes by the name Jay Station on YouTube, was also issued warnings about two other videos.

Three other Ottawa men are also facing trespassing charges. Adam Morgan, 20, is facing one count, and Hamzah Faraj, 18, and Olyad Motuma, 18, are facing two counts each.

The Jay Station YouTube page is filled with videos of a man and his friends spending the night at various locations in Ottawa, where they are shown doing things like building toilet paper forts. Several of the videos have been viewed 1 million times.

Ethier has told CTV Ottawa that he's "gotten rich" off the YouTube videos. "I was going to stop doing them, but I'm getting payments," he said.

All four men are due in court Dec. 9.
