Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is asking witnesses to a collision involving an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) vehicle that happened last month in Cornwall, Ont. to come forward. The collision happened on Jan. 15 around 3:30 p.m. between an OPP vehicle and a civilian car at the intersection of Ninth Street and Pitt Street, according to the SIU. Following the crash, the 45-year-old occupant of the civilian vehicle was taken to hospital, where “he was diagnosed with serious injuries.” The SIU has shared a photo of a black truck believed to have been in the area at the time of the crash. It is asking its occupants to reach out and share any information they may have. The occupants are asked to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at: https://siu.on.ca/en/appeals.php. “Anyone else who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, is encouraged to contact the unit,” the SIU says on its website. The SIU is an independent government agency that investigates the conduct of police officers that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
