Porter Airlines will keep non-stop service between Ottawa and Las Vegas grounded through the winter. The airline launched flights between the Ottawa International Airport (YOW) and the Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) last November, with four flights a week. Porter Airlines stopped the service on June 15, citing the summer heat in Las Vegas and deciding to use the aircraft on “other summer routes with strong demand.” The airline told CTV News Ottawa in the spring it intended to resume YOW-LAS service in the fall. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for Porter Airlines said the Ottawa-Las Vegas service will not resume this fall. “A decision was made that YOW-LAS will not return to this year’s winter schedule, but we are considering other possibilities for Ottawa that will be determined in the coming weeks,” Porter Airlines said in a statement to CTV News Ottawa. In May, Porter Airlines launched non-stop service between Ottawa and Victoria International Airport. Starting November 17, Porter Airlines will operate non-stop flights between Ottawa and Fort McMurray, Alta. Porter has also announced plans to launch non-stop service from Ottawa to Mexico, Costa Rica, Bahamas and Cayman Islands starting in December.
