Police release photo of suspected jewelry store robber

Ottawa police released this photograph of a person suspected of robbing a jewelry store on St. Laurent Boulevard Thursday, July 26, 2012.

Ottawa police released the photograph of an alleged jewelry store robber Tuesday hoping someone will recognize him and come forward.

Police say a man walked into a jewelry store on St. Laurent Boulevard at about 2 p.m. last Thursday originally posing as a customer. Then all of a sudden, police say, he made a more violent demand for money and smashed a display case.

The robber took off empty-handed and hopped into a waiting car with one or two other people. Police say it was possibly a silver Honda Civic.

The suspect is described as a black man, 6’1” with a larger build and between 22 and 25 years old.  Police say he has dark hair, is clean shaven, and was wearing a grey hoodie at the time of the robbery.
