First responders were called to the ByWard Market after a man was found with a ‘laceration’ to his face on Saturday afternoon, according to Ottawa paramedics Ottawa Paramedic Service commander Kevin Montgomery says crews were called to the 100 block of George Street at about 4:30 p.m. A 28-year-old male was taken to hospital by ambulance in serious condition, he said. Several Ottawa police cruisers and tape were seen in front of the Salvation Army Booth Centre. In an email. Ottawa police say officers responded to the area for reports of an “assault with a weapon.” The victim’s injuries are said to be non-life threatening and an investigation is ongoing. In a statement to CTV News, Sheldon Feener, the executive director of the Booth Centre, said the individual was not a client of the George Street Salvation Army. “The Booth Centre continues to operate as usual and is following its established safety and security procedures,” Feener said. No arrests were announced. It follows a pair of similar incidents in the area this week. A man was stabbed and critically injured Monday night after what police say was an attempted robbery near George and Dalhousie streets. Less than a day later, a woman in her 20s was seriously injured in a stabbing near Rideau and Cumberland streets.
