A weekend stabbing that left two men injured in Barrie has taken a new turn, with police now laying charges in the case. Officers were called to a home on Wellington Street East around 5 a.m. Sunday after a fight broke out between two men who had attended a gathering for a mutual friend. Police say the altercation snowballed into a stabbing. A 21-year-old man from Springwater Township was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. A 36-year-old Orillia man was also hospitalized for injuries sustained during the incident. The Orillia man has been charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. While the Springwater man has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Police say the investigation remains ongoing.
