Ottawa Senators, Bell Media announce long-term extension

The Ottawa Senators and Bell Media have signed a long-term rights extension that will keep Senators games on TSN and French-language-RDS for years to come.

Michael Andlauer, owner of the Ottawa Senators, announced the extension on TSN during the first intermission of Ottawa’s matchup against the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday.

“Our fans appreciate the passion and professionalism that go into our home broadcasts on TSN, RDS, and TSN 1200 and we are excited to build on this strong relationship in the years ahead,” Andlauer said in a statement.

According to a news release from Bell Media and the Ottawa Senators, TSN Radio 1200 will remain the sole English-language radio partner of the NHL franchise and regional matchups will be available in the team’s broadcast region, which includes eastern Ontario, Québec, and Atlantic Canada.

During the broadcast, Andlauer said the partnership will be in place for the next 12 years.

“With ascending young stars across their roster, the Ottawa Senators are a key pillar of TSN and RDS’s industry-leading hockey coverage, and this new extended agreement represents the continuation of the successful partnership we’ve built together,” Shawn Redmond, vice president and general manager of Bell Media Sports, said in a statement.

Bell Media has held the regional television rights for the Ottawa Senators since the 2014-2015 season and TSN 1200 has broadcast Senators games since the 1997-1998 season.
