Ottawa police seek attempted bank robbery, carjacking suspect

The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect in connection with an attempted bank robbery and carjacking earlier this week.

The incident began at around 9:38 a.m. Tuesday. A man entered a bank at the Elmvale Acres Shopping Centre on St. Laurent Boulevard and allegedly threatened staff with a gun, police said.

Staff immediately called 9-1-1. Police say the man fled the bank and then allegedly threatened someone in a parked car in the parking lot, demanding their keys. He drove off in the stolen car, which was found abandoned a short time later.

“The suspect is described as White, with a medium build and dark moustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black hoodie, black sunglasses, and brown vest,” police said.
