Ottawa Mission serves holiday meals to those in need on Christmas Day

Volunteers and workers at the Ottawa Mission spent their Christmas Day in the kitchen, serving up the organization’s annual holiday meal to those in need.

According to the Ottawa Mission, they expect to serve approximately 1,650 meals at their dining room on Thursday.

“Today and every day, we are grateful for our community — for your kindness, your compassion, and the hope you help create for neighbours across our city,” the organization wrote in a social media post.

The organization served 18,725 special meals across the city for their annual Mission Christmas Dinner on Dec. 14, a record high number for the charity.

The Mission says they’ve served up 1.2 million meals in the past fiscal year, both at their dining room and from their food truck program which stops at 41 locations throughout the city.
