An Orléans micro-brewery has closed after nine years in business. Orléans Brewing Co. announced on social media Wednesday night they “had to make the difficult decision to close our doors” after “almost nine unforgettable years.” “This wasn’t something we wanted — but rising costs, increased rent, mounting pressures, and circumstances beyond our control have left us with no other path forward,” Orléans Brewing Co. said in a post on Instagram. “What we built together became so much more than a brewery. OBC became a place where strangers became friends, and friends became family. Every pint poured, every plate served, every late‑night laugh meant more to us than you’ll ever know.” Orléans Brewing Co. first opened in 2016 and was located on Innes Road. This is the second local brewery to close in Ottawa this year. Kichesippi Beer closed in March. “The brewery is currently operating at a loss and has been for some time,” Paul Meek, owner of Kichesippi Beer Co., said in a Facebook post. “We are in the awkward position of not having enough money to brew more beer, which results in not having enough beer to make more money.”
