Saskatoon residents are starting the weekend under a wind warning, with Environment Canada forecasting powerful wind gusts of up to 100 km/h across the city and several surrounding communities on Saturday. The warning that was issued at around 8:38 a.m., covers Saskatoon, Martensville, Warman, Langham, Aberdeen, Davidson, Radisson, Borden and other nearby areas. According to the weather agency, strong west winds with gusts between 90 and 100 km/h are expected throughout the day before gradually easing later Saturday afternoon. “Local utility outages are possible. High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible,” Environment Canada said. Residents are being asked to secure loose outdoor items and avoid fallen power lines. Those in the area are also asked to monitor the latest forecasts and weather alerts as conditions change.
