One man sent to hospital following fire in Centretown West

Ottawa paramedics transported a man in his 30s to the hospital following a fire in the 10 block of Eccles Street late Saturday.

According to paramedics, the man was in critical condition and taken to the trauma centre.

Ottawa Fire Services received a call reporting a fire on the main level of the multi-unit residential building in Centretown West at 8:51 p.m.

Firefighters say they rescued one resident at 9:01 p.m.

An OC Transpo bus was sent to the scene to provide shelter for the building’s residents, and by 9:10 p.m. the fire was declared under control.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
