OC Transpo riders paying the single-ride fare with a Presto card will no longer be charged more than $12.25 a day to use buses and the O-Train. The transit service says “daily fare capping” is now available to transit users paying with a Presto card. “This means you can tap your Presto card all day on the O-Train, buses, and Para Transpo, and you’ll never be charged more than $12.25,” OC Transpo said on its website. OC Transpo says when transit riders use their Presto card, the system will automatically track your trips and calculate the lowest fare based on how often you ride. The fare for a single ride is $4.10, and fare capping means you can ride the bus three or more times during the day for a maximum of $12.25. OC Transpo already has monthly fare capping on Presto cards, meaning users won’t be charged more than the price of a monthly pass. Fare capping was already in effect for people who pay with their credit or debit card.
