Eastern Ontario is painted Progressive Conservative blue following the Ontario election, with the PC Party winning seven of eight seats across the region. Liberal Party incumbent Ted Hsu is the only Liberal MPP in the region, winning the riding of Kingston and the Islands. Bay of Quinte Progressive Conservative incumbent Tyler Allsopp has won the riding of Bay of Quinte for the second time in five months. Allsopp won the riding with 44.4 per cent of the vote, defeating Liberal candidate David O’Neil and NDP candidate Amanda Robertson. Allsopp won a byelection in the riding in September 2024 following the resignation of Todd Smith. This is the third general election for the riding of Bay of Quinte, which was created in 2015. Smith won the riding for the Progressive Conservatives in 2018 and 2022. Glengarry-Prescott-Russell Progressive Conservative incumbent Stéphane Sarrazin will represent the riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell for a second term. Sarrazin won the riding east of Ottawa with 51 per cent of the vote. Liberal Party candidate Trevor Stewart was second with 37 per cent of the vote, followed by Ryder Finlay of the NDP with five per cent of the vote. Sarrazin was first elected to represent the riding in the 2022 election, defeating former MPP Amanda Simard. The riding of Glengarry-Prescott-Russell was held by the Liberal Party between 1999 and 2018. Hastings-Lennox and Addington Voters in Hastings-Lennox and Addington re-elected Progressive Conservative incumbent Ric Bresee for a second term. Bresee won the riding with 48 per cent of the vote. Liberal Lynn Rigby was second with 29.6 per cent of the vote, followed by NDP candidate Jessica Zielke with 11.4 per cent of the vote. Bresee has represented the riding since 2022. The riding has been held by the Progressive Conservatives since it was created for the 2018 election. The riding was created from Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington and Prince Edward-Hastings. Kingston and the Islands Liberal Ted Hsu will be the only Liberal MPP in eastern Ontario, outside of Ottawa. Hsu was re-elected Thursday night with 61.6 per cent of the vote. Progressive Conservative candidate Ian Chapelle was second with 22 per cent of the vote, followed by NDP candidate Elliot Goodell Ugalde with 12.3 per cent. The riding was held by the Liberal Party between 1995 and 2018, while former NDP MPP Ian Arthur represented the riding between 2018 and 2022. Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston Progressive Conservative incumbent John Jordan has been re-elected for a second term. Jordan won the riding with 49 per cent of the vote, defeating Liberal Party candidate Rob Rainer and NDP candidate John MacRae. Former Progressive Conservative turned Independent MPP Randy Hillier represented the riding between 2007 and 2022, while the Liberals last held the riding between 2003 and 2007. Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes Steve Clark will represent the riding of Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes for another four years. The long-time Progressive Conservative MPP won the election with 55 per cent of the vote. Liberal candidate Lorna Jean Edmonds finished second with 27 per cent of the vote, followed by NDP candidate Chris Wilson with 9.8 per cent of the vote. Clark has represented the riding since 2010, when he won a byelection to replace Bob Runciman. The Progressive Conservatives have represented the riding of Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes and the previous riding of Leeds-Grenville since its inception in 1987. Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke Billy Denault will continue to carry the Progressive Conservative flag in the riding of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke. The Progressive Conservative candidate won the riding with 54.8 per cent of the vote in his first campaign. Liberal candidate Oliver Jacob finished second with 22 per cent of the vote, followed by NDP candidate Marshall Buchanan with 14.9 per cent of the vote. This is the first time since 2003 that the riding has not been represented by longtime Progressive Conservative MPP John Yakabuski, who did not seek re-election. Liberal Sean Conway represented the riding from 1999 to 2003. Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry Progressive Conservative incumbent Nolan Quinn is heading back to Queen’s Park. Quinn won the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry with 62 per cent of the vote. Quinn was first elected MPP for the Cornwall-area riding in 2022 and served as the Ontario Minister of Colleges and Universities since August 2024. Liberal candidate Devon Monkhouse finished second with 19 per cent of the vote, followed by NDP candidate Jeremy Rose with 12 per cent of the vote. This is the fifth straight election the Progressive Conservatives have won the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry. Jim McDonell represented the riding for the PCs between 2011 and 2022, after Liberal Jim Brownell represented the riding between 2003 and 2011.
