Ottawa motorists will want to wait until Friday to fill up the gas tank, with prices set to drop 15 cents over the next two days. Gas prices have jumped more than $0.50 a litre since late February due to the war in the Middle East. Canadians for Affordable Energy President Dan McTeague says prices are set to drop over the next two days following the United States and Iran agreeing to a two-week ceasefire. “It is good news for the market, at least temporarily for the next two weeks,” McTeague told CP24 on Wednesday. Gas prices dropped 2 cents a litre on Thursday to an average of 186.9 cents a litre. McTeague says gas prices are set to fall 13 cents a litre at stations in Ottawa and across Ontario on Friday. Prices should hit $1.74 a litre on Friday. McTeague says diesel prices jumped 7 cents a litre on Thursday but will decrease 28 cents a litre on Friday to 206.9. The drop in gas prices comes a week before refineries switch to summer-grade blend gasoline. McTeague has said the switch from winter-blend to summer-grade blend gasoline will increase prices by 7 cents a litre. With files from CP24’s Codi Wilson
