CTVNewsOttawa.ca takes a look at the federal election winners in eastern Ontario and western Quebec. Eastern Ontario Algonquin-Renfrew-Pembroke: Conservative incumbent Cheryl Gallant was re-elected in the riding for a ninth time, having represented the riding since 2000. Gallant won with 56 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 72.5 per cent. She defeats Liberal candidate Cyndi Mills and NDP candidate Eileen Jones-Whyte. Former Liberal MP Len Hopkins represented the riding of Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke between 1979 and 1997, while Liberal Hec Clouthier was the riding MP between 1997 and 2000. The riding includes Pembroke, Arnprior, Deep River, Laurentian Hills, Petawawa, Renfrew and the Pikwakanagan Reserve Bay of Quinte: Liberal candidate Chris Malette has defeated incumbent Conservative candidate Ryan Williams. Malette, a former journalist, had served as a city councillor for Belleville since 2018. He wins with 50 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 69.5 per cent. Williams represented the riding of Bay of Quinte since 2021. The Conservatives took the seat from the Liberals in the 2021 election. The riding of Bay of Quinte includes the City of Belleville, part of the Cite of Quinte West and the County of Prince Edward. Hastings-Lennox and Addington-Tyendinaga: Conservative candidate Shelby Kramp-Neuman was re-elected to a second term. She defeats Liberal candidate Tracey Sweeny Shenk and NDP candidate Ava Duffy. There were two other candidates on the ballot. Kramp-Neuman won with 55 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 71 per cent. Former Conservative turned independent MP Derek Sloan represented the riding between 2019 and 2021, while Liberal Mike Bossio represented the riding from 2015 to 2019. The riding includes part of Belleville north of Highway 401, part of the City of Quinte West, the towns of Bancroft, Deseronto and Greater Napanee, the municipalities of Centre Hastings, Hastings Highlands, Marmora and Lake and Tweed. The riding also includes the Tyendinaga Mohawk Territory. Kingston and the Islands: Incumbent Liberal candidate Mark Gerretsen will come out on top in a battle between current and former Kingston mayors. Garretsen will be returning to the House of Commons for a fourth term, having held the riding since 2015. He was the mayor of Kingston from 2010 to 2014. He defeats Conservative candidate Bryan Paterson, the current mayor of Kingston. Garretsen won with 64 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 72.4 per cent. The Liberals have represented the riding of Kingston and the Islands since 1988, with Peter Milliken (1988 to 2011) and Ted Hsu (2011-15) serving as MP. The riding of Kingston and the Islands includes the City of Kingston and the Township of Frontenac Islands. Lanark-Frontenac: Conservative incumbent Scott Reid will return to the House of Commons for a fourth term. He defeats Liberal candidate Michelle Foxton, NDP candidate Danielle Rae and Green Party candidate Jesse Pauley. Reid won with 50 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 75.7 per cent. The riding of Lanark-Frontenac-Kingston was first contested in 2015 after being created from the ridings of Carleton-Mississippi Mills, Kingston and the Islands and Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington. Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands-Rideau Lakes: Conservative Michael Barrett has held onto the riding of Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands-Rideau Lakes, deafeating Liberal Lorna Jean Edmonds and NDP candidate Paul Lancione. Barrett won with 50 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 73.8 per cent. Barrett has represented the riding since 2018, when he won a byelection. Barrett won the 2021 election with 50.5 per cent of the vote. The late Conservative MP Gord Brown represented the riding of Leeds-Grenville and Leeds-Grenville-Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes between 2004 and 2018. Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry: Incumbent Conservative candidate and former Mayor of North Dundas Eric Duncan was re-elected for a third term. He defeats Liberal candidate Sarah Good and NDP candidate Mario Leclerc. Duncan won with 57 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 68.5 per cent. Former Conservative MP Guy Lauzon represented the riding of Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry between 2004 and 2019. Western Quebec Argenteuil-La Petite-Nation: Liberal incumbent Stéphane Lauzon has won re-election in the Outaouais riding. Lauzon has held the seat since the 2015 election. Lauzon won with 47 per cent of the vote. Lauzon won the riding with 38 per cent of the vote in 2021. Turnout was 72.5 per cent. Lauzon defeats Bloc Quebecois candidate Martin Héroux and Conservative candidate Martin Charron. The riding was created for the 2015 election. It encompasses a portion of the electoral districts of Pontiac and Argenteuil-Papineau-Mirabel. Gatineau Liberal incumbent Steven MacKinnon has been re-elected in Gatineau. He has represented the riding since 2015, winning the 2021 election with 40 per cent of the vote. MacKinnon defeated Conservative challenger Kethlande Pierre and the Bloc Quebecois’s Richard Nadeau, who previously represented the riding from 2006 to 2011. MacKinnon won with 60 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 67.8 per cent. The riding of Gatineau consists of the City of Gatineau from the Gatineau River east along the Ottawa River. Part of the former riding of Pontiac was shifted to the riding of Gatineau for this election. Hull-Aylmer Greg Fergus has been re-elected in Hull-Aylmer, holding the riding for the Liberal Party. He won with 62 per cent of the vote. Turnout was 68.9 per cent. Fergus has been the MP for the riding since 2015 and won the 2021 election with 52.5 per cent of the vote. The riding consists of part of the City of Gatineau. Fergus most recently served as the Speaker of the House of Commons. Fergus defeated Conservative Jill Declare and Bloc Quebecois candidate Alice Grondin. Pontiac-Kitigan Zibi The former Pontiac riding, renamed for 2025, has been won by Liberal Sophie Chatel, who represented Pontiac after winning the 2021 election with 43 per cent of the vote. Chatel won with 55 per cent of the vote Monday night. Turnout was 68.7 per cent. A section of the former riding shifted to the riding of Argenteuil-La Petite-Nation. The riding includes Pontiac, a section of the City of Gatineau, the municipalities of Cantley, Chelsea and La Peche, and Kitigan Zibi. The riding has changed hands between Liberal, Conservative and NDP candidates in past elections.
