It’s a slightly barren weekend before the real Halloween festivities begin, but here are some (mostly) family-friendly events being hosted this weekend: Warwa Woods: ‘Two paths. One nightmare.’ About 70 kilometres west of Edmonton, in Darwell, Camp Warwa is inviting people to explore the lore of the woods on Friday through Sunday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Apparently, a young woman was accused of witchcraft and sacrificed to the lake when the camp was first a small fishing village. The night she died, the village burned to the ground. So, that sounds fun. Proceeds go toward the Friendship Fund, which helps fund summer camp for kids. Howl-o-ween at the Edmonton Humane Society The EHS is once again offering pets and humans a free Halloween celebration that includes pet psychics, a costume contest, pet-friendly boo-ze garden (not sure what that entails) and educational talks. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Fright Night at Galaxyland Roaming zombies, unlimited rides, a live DJ and more await West Edmonton Mall-goers on Saturday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tickets are $77 per person. Graveyard Groove Entry is free to this Heritage Park event on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wear your costumes and be ready for a haunted house, escape room, balloons, live roaming performances and even barnyard animals dressed up in costume. Guests are asked to bring a cash or non-perishable food donation in lieu of entry fee for the Parkland Food Bank. Halloween Scavenger Hunt The Callingwood Farmers’ Market is hosting a kid’s scavenger hunt on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Drop by the table in front of Safeway to pick up a game sheet and start the fun. The first 100 families to finish will get a free pumpkin. Halloween at Magrath 2026 Concordia University of Edmonton invites everyone to experience its historic estate grounds at Magrath Campus, which have been transformed into a ghoulish outdoor showcase. The walkthroughs are being held all of next week starting Saturday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
