Environment Canada is warning Ottawa residents of a heavy rainfall expected to bring upwards of 50 millimetres of rain down upon the capital on Sunday. According to the yellow-level rainfall warning, Ottawa is due for 50 to 80 millimetres of rain on Sunday. In some areas of the city, the rainfall total could approach 100 millimetres. Environment Canada says the heaviest rainfall is expected through the evening, and the rain may continue through Monday morning over eastern Ontario. “Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Some property damage is possible,” Environment Canada said. “Don’t drive through flooded roadways. Watch for washouts near rivers, creeks and culverts.” There is also a risk of thunderstorms this afternoon. Ottawa forecast In addition to the rain, Ottawa residents should expect a temperature high of 23 C on Sunday and an overnight low of 17 C. On Monday, expect a high of 25 C and periods of rain during the day. On Tuesday, expect a bright and sunny day with a temperature high of 27 C. On Wednesday, expect more sun and a high of 28 C.
