Homes are being evacuated near the site of a crash involving a propane tanker in Ottawa’s south end on Tuesday evening. The Ottawa Police Service says officers responded to a single-vehicle collision on Parkway Road at Cedar Lane in Greely shortly after 6:50 p.m. Police say the propane truck was on its side and found to be leaking propane following the crash. The Ottawa Fire Services are evacuating residences within an 800 metre radius of the collision “as a precaution” until the propane can be transferred to another vehicle, according to police. Ottawa Fire Services Public Information Officer Nick DeFazio tells CTV News Ottawa that a hazmat team is at the site assessing the leak and the air quality. It’s unclear how many homes are impacted and how long the cleanup might take. Ottawa paramedics say no injuries have been reported. Police have also set up numerous road closures in the area: This is a breaking news story. More information will be provided when available.
