The Ottawa Fire Services says the quick actions of firefighters prevented a fire from spreading from a garage through a single-family home in Manotick. Several people called 9-1-1 at approximately 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday, reporting black smoke and flames coming from the attached garage of a home on Lockmaster Crescent. Ottawa Fire Services spokesperson Nick DeFazio said when firefighters arrived on the scene four minutes later, the two-car garage was “fully engulfed with the flames spreading into the home.” “Crews initiated a fast attack and advanced multiple hose lines toward the structure,” DeFazio said on X. “Firefighters entered the home to search for occupants and encountered zero-visibility conditions caused by heavy black smoke.” No one was found inside the home. The blaze was declared under control just before 2 p.m. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
