Barrie police say they found more than drugs in the possession of one man during an arrest downtown. On Tuesday, police arrested a man near Maple Avenue after officers observed what appeared to be a “drug transaction.” During the arrest police claim to have found a “significant quantity” of suspected fentanyl, cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. Police also seized $4,300 during the arrest, an expandable baton and several pieces of identification belonging to others. Police say the IDs found had been previously reported stolen from vehicles. A 36-year-old Barrie man now faces a number of trafficking and possession charges for opioids, cocaine and methamphetamine. He also faces two counts of theft under $5,000, carrying a concealed prohibited device and possession of a dangerous weapon.
