Peel police have recovered approximately $15,000 in stolen property and charged four people following an investigation into organized retail theft. Police say that officers began an investigation on June 18 after being alerted to a theft at a business in the area of Clayhill Road and Dundas Street West in Mississauga. Two days later, investigators executed a search warrant at a residence in the area of Mississauga and Mayfield roads in Brampton, and recovered property stolen from several retailers. Police say that department stores, pharmacies and fitness stores were all targeted. They say that the stolen property included electronics, health and fitness products, household goods, health supplements, and cosmetics. Four Brampton residents were subsequently arrested as a result of the investigation and face a combined 23 charges. The suspects include Czuljana Ciecierska, 43, Dawid Ciecierski, 47, Dawid Ciecierski, 21, and Danuta Towinska, 20. Police say their investigation remains ongoing. “Organized retail crime continues to fuel violent criminal activity, including drug trafficking and robberies, in our communities extending beyond simply stolen merchandise. That’s why Peel Regional Police investigators will be relentless in identifying those responsible, holding them to account, and ensuring our communities are safe,” Deputy Chief Marc Andrews said in a news release. Peel police say that investigators have made 611 arrests related to retail theft so far in 2026, and have laid 1,276 criminal charges.
