Brockville resident charged in connection with break-in at former shelter

Ontario Provincial Police say a Brockville resident is facing charges following an alleged break-in at a former shelter on New Year’s Day.

According to police, a resident called to report someone had gone into a building on Oxford Avenue via the window at around 10 a.m. Thursday.

OPP officers and Brockville police surrounded and searched the building, finding one man inside, along with what police called a “large amount of property” that had been moved to a doorway.

The 34-year-old suspect is charged with breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence and mischief.

He was held for a Friday bail hearing.
