Smiths Falls Police are investigating after a body was found along the shoreline of the Rideau River on Tuesday. Police say officers attended Queen Street in Smiths Falls at 2:50 p.m. after boaters discovered a body near the shore. Officers were able to get the body out and paramedics were called to the scene. The lone individual was declared deceased, police say. Police say they are working with the coroner to determine the cause of death and are notifying next of kin. The individual was not identified. An investigation is ongoing.
